Please remember to check-in at the depot when you arrive to pick up your tickets. All trains operate on Central Time.
The Hoosier Valley Railroad Museum is located in the town of North Judson, Indiana. It's a rural community with all of the charm you come to expect from a small midwestern town. There are several local restaurants and gas stations.
Unfortunately, there are no working restrooms aboard our trains. You will need to use one of the restrooms in the depot before you depart. On busy train days, the museum does provide port-a-pottys to handle the larger crowds.
We are often asked if our guests are allowed to bring food and beverages aboard the train. The answer is YES, with some restrictions. Alcoholic beverages are prohibited from our trains and on museum grounds. We also ask that guests clean up after themselves. Please use the trash bins and keep it clean.
Unfortunately, pets are not permitted aboard our trains. We ask that you please leave your cats, dogs, birds, and reptiles at home. Our trains are loud and we don't want to startle your family member. The exception are service dogs defined under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).
One of the most confusing aspects about our museum is actually the time zone! We are located in the Central Time Zone. That means that we are in the same time zone as Chicago. All of our train schedules and museum hours are listed in Central Time. If you're coming from Chicago or northwest Indiana areas, then we have the same time as you.
If you're coming from South Bend, Fort Wayne, Lafayette, or Indianapolis, then you are on Eastern Time. That means that you'll need to check your watch and adjust your travel times to match our time zone.
During our regular season, the museum depot, ticket office, and gift shop are open from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm. The museum is closed the other days of the week. The only exception is when we are running special events. The rule of thumb is when we are running trains, then our facilities are open.
